Port chamber reports 36 delays in loading grains on board ships due to strikes.

The CAPyM port chamber reported that the number of ships experiencing delays loading grains in Argentina has risen to 36. This is due to a strike by oilseed workers earlier this week, which has halted the operations at Argentina's main agricultural hubs.

Two Argentine unions in the oilseeds industry launched a strike early on Tuesday, demanding that companies increase worker wages above inflation.

Argentina is one of the largest exporters of soybeans processed, and proceeds from these sales provide much-needed hard currencies for the central bank.

Official data show that, while the inflation rate in the country has decreased since December when President Javier Milei assumed office, the rate of increase of consumer prices over the first six months of the year was still 79%.
