Singapore port authority reports fire onboard tanker in East Johor Straits

storyp1> Oct 21 (Reuters) The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Monday said it received an alert about an engine room fire onboard a Maltaflagged tanker, the Medication Atlantic, which was anchored in the East Johor Straits within Singapore waters.

The vessel is presently anchored and there is no disturbance to vessel traffic in the location, MPA said in its release, adding that all 22 team had actually disembarked the vessel and were safe with no injuries.

In action to the event, the MPA released a patrol craft, along with two Police Coast Guard craft, three Singapore Civil Defence Force marine firefighting and rescue vessels, and two yank boats to assist and keep navigational safety, it stated.

The tanker's registered shipowner and manager is Malta-based Sea Tankers 4 Pte Ltd, according to Equasis database.
