Ukraine imposes strict power curbs after energy failures

Ukraine power grid operator Ukrenergo has imposed extreme limitations on electrical energy supply in 11 areas of the nation and capital Kyiv after two power centers suffered failures last night, the company stated on Thursday.

Russian rocket and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy sector have magnified considering that the spring, resulting in blackouts in many areas and forcing Kyiv to begin large-scale electrical power imports from the European Union.

The restrictions will be in impact from 8am to 10pm Kyiv time, Ukrenergo said.

Ukrenergo does not report on which energy centers have had failures and their cause.

A considerable power deficit in Ukraine's energy system is the outcome of eight massive Russian attacks that the enemy has introduced versus energy centers given that the beginning of the year, the operator said.

Ukrainian officials have said the country lost almost half of its power production capacity due to the fact that of attacks.
