Polish power system is safe regardless of flooding, grid operator says

The Polish power system is safe in spite of ongoing flooding, power grid operator PSE said on Wednesday.

PSE is using helicopters to examine power lines and transformer stations, while freshly constructed infrastructure is developed to manage severe weather patterns connected to climate change, the company said in a declaration on its website.

The worst floods to hit main Europe in at least two decades have actually left a path of destruction from Romania to Poland, spreading debris in southwestern Polish towns and cutting power supplies to dozens of households.

The continuous floods have not harmed the transmission infrastructure and do not affect the balance of the power system, PSE stated in a statement.
