Finland hit by fibre-optic cable television blackout

GlobalConnect is working to fix a damaged fibreoptic cable on land in Finland, the digital facilities and data interaction company stated on Tuesday.

Two different cuts to the cable caused a major interruption in Finland, GlobalConnect stated on its website, including that no sea cables were impacted.

This disruption follows recent breaches of two undersea fibre-optic interactions cables in the Baltic Sea, which have raised suspicions of prospective sabotage.

The events took place on Monday afternoon regional time, and repair work has given that been underway, GlobalConnect stated.

One of the two breaches had been repaired by Tuesday morning while the business was still working to repair the second, it stated.

Major blackout in Finland triggered by separate incidents in our network, no sea cable televisions are affected, GlobalConnect stated.
