UK engineering firm Smiths Group to acquire 2 North American companies

UK engineering company Smiths Group said on Tuesday it was acquiring U.S.based Modular Metal Producers and Canada's Wattco for as much as 110 million pounds ($ 146.89 million), in a bid to expand its worldwide presence.

Smiths Group likewise published a small miss out on in its annual revenue, pulling shares down 6.2% in early trade, injured by a slow U.S. construction market and suppressed demand for its heating, ventilation and cooling (A/C) items.

The business, which serves across aerospace, security and energy sectors, said the two North American business would be integrated into its Flex-Tek division.

The relocations come after Roland Carter, an expert at the engineering firm, was named its new CEO in March.
