US Postal Service delivered a minimum of 99.2 million ballots for 2024 election

The U.S. Postal Service said on Monday it provided a minimum of 99.2 million ballots to and from voters in the November presidential election.

USPS stated at least 99.88% of tallies were provided to election officials within a week. In September, a group of about 3 lots election authorities had raised major issues about USPS's capability to deliver countless tallies for the 2024 presidential election.

The authorities had cited concerns about processing center operations, lost or delayed election mail, and front-line training shortages impacting USPS's ability to provide election mail in a prompt and precise manner.

The efficiency resembles 2020, when USPS said it provided 99.89% of tallies from citizens to election authorities within seven days.

In 2024, the Postal Service when again very well performed our role of efficiently and effectively providing the nation's. tallies, stated Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

The inspector general's workplace stated 46% of votes were cast. by mail in the November 2020 governmental election, compared. with 21% in the 2016 election.

In total, USPS delivered 3.37 billion pieces of political. and election mail in 2024.

USPS said some states let citizens request mail ballots too. near Election Day on Nov. 5 to ensure adequate time to. return votes and included constant policies are required. nationwide to make sure that operations run efficiently.

USPS said 150,630 outbound tallies from election offices. went into the mail between Oct. 31 and Election Day-- far too late to. make sure prompt shipments.

Last month, USPS alerted it must continue to cut costs and. boost income or risks requiring a government bailout to help. the company avoid financial collapse. It reported a web. loss of $9.5 billion for its fiscal year ending Sept. 30, a $3. billion larger loss than last year.
