Ryanair's O'Leary says new Boeing management 'continue to disappoint'

Ryanair Group Chief Executive Michael O'Leary on Tuesday said that Boeing's new management continue to dissatisfy and that deliveries were behind schedule.

The Irish airline, among Boeing's biggest customers, said there was a danger it would take shipment of just 20-25 of the 737 MAX aircraft ahead of next summer, rather than the 29 arranged.

Things are continuing to slip slightly, it's been frustrating, O'Leary told Reuters in an interview.

We're working closely with Stephanie Pope and the new group in Boeing, but they continue to dissatisfy us, he stated, referring to the head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, who was appointed in March.

Boeing last month called aerospace market veteran Kelly Ortberg as its president.

Boeing has actually vowed to grow output by the end of the year, after battling with supply chain snags and running a slower assembly line since a Jan. 5 in-flight blowout of a door plug on a 737 MAX 9 jet that heightened regulative scrutiny.

O'Leary stated Ryanair had actually received five airplane in July instead of the 7 scheduled which it appeared like it would get just 5 of 10 set up for August.

Boeing have had considerable production issues. We think they're getting to completion of that, he stated.

Ryanair stated in July that Boeing had actually warned it some 737 MAX deliveries due by next spring would be delayed till the peak summertime of 2025-- a repeat of hold-ups this year that forced a cut in its summertime traffic volumes.

Ryanair, Europe's biggest by traveler numbers, currently has 150 firm orders for limit 10, the biggest jet in the 737 family, and options for 150 more, with the first deliveries due in 2027.

O'Leary said the smaller MAX 7 was supposed to be certified by the end of this year, however that looks like slipping into the first half of 2025.

He said it was impossible to know if certification of the MAX 10 would be on time in the very first half of 2025. It's a. day-by-day difficulty with Boeing..
