UK sanctions Iran Air and IRISL over military transfers to Russia

Britain on Monday enforced sanctions against Iran's nationwide airline company and shipping provider, measures it stated were taken in reaction to Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia.

The state-owned Iran Air and Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) will deal with a property freeze for their role in supplying weapons to Russia for usage on the battleground against Ukraine, Britain stated.

Iran's efforts to weaken international security are harmful and inappropriate, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated. We reiterate our get in touch with Iran to cease its support for Russia's prohibited war in Ukraine.

The sanctions will even more restrict Iran Air's direct business air services to and from the UK.

Britain also approved the Russian cargo ship PORT OLYA-3 for its function in carrying military materials to Russia, it said.
