Significant Chinese port reports blast on Taiwanese cargo ship

China's NingboZhoushan Port, one of the world's busiest ports, reported a surge on board a container ship on Friday, Chinese state media reported, producing shockwaves that were felt a kilometre away.

No casualties or injuries were reported after the blast on YM Mobility, a freight ship owned by Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transportation Corp, at around 1:40 p.m. (0540. GMT), China's official Xinhua news firm stated.

The explosion among containers near the bow of the. Liberia-flagged vessel sent cargo scattering and left a plume of. black smoke, footage from China Central Tv (CCTV). revealed.

The ship, presently docked at the port's Beilun terminal,. was transferring harmful goods, the Ningbo Maritime Browse and. Rescue Centre stated.
