Six missing people in luxury yacht crash off Sicily

A powerful storm caused a luxury boat to sink off the coast of Sicily on Monday. One man died and six people are still missing, including British tech-entrepreneur Mike Lynch and daughter. The yacht was able to save 15 people before it sank.

Find out more about the missing passengers.

Mike LYNCH WITH DAUGHTER HANNAH

Lynch, a tech entrepreneur, built Britain's largest software company Autonomy. The 59-year-old, who is often referred to as Britain's Bill Gates was hailed by shareholders, scientists, and politicians when Hewlett-Packard bought it for $11 billion.

In late 2012, HP announced that it had discovered a massive accounting fraud at the company and written off $8.8 Billion of its value. Lynch spent 12 years clearing his name. He was finally acquitted of all charges in the United States just a few weeks ago.

Lynch, after selling Autonomy, founded Invoke Capital. This is a venture capital fund for technology.

Hannah Lynch, 18 years old, is also missing. In a Sunday Times profile of Lynch published last month, Hannah was said to be preparing to attend the University of Oxford and study English literature.

Angela Bacares was also on board the boat, but she was rescued.

JONATHAN BLOOMER, AND HIS WIFE JUDY BLOOMER

Jonathan Bloomer was a character in Lynch's case. Bloomer is non-executive chairman of Morgan Stanley International and chair of Hiscox, an international specialist insurer.

From 2000 to 2005, he was also the chief executive officer of Prudential Insurance and Investment Company.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he studied physics in London at Imperial College during the 1970s.

On LinkedIn, one of Bloomer’s former employees said that he was always "a friendly and approachable man".

Hiscox's Chief Executive Aki Hassain stated in a Tuesday statement that they were shocked and saddened by the incident and sent their condolences to all those who were affected, especially Bloomer and Judy, his wife, who were also on board the yacht.

Judy studied English language and Literature at Homerton College, Cambridge. She has been a psychotherapist since nearly 30 years. She specializes in anxiety and stress. She began her career as an educator.

CHRISTOPHER MORVILLO, AND HIS WIFE NEDA MORVILLO

Christopher Morvillo was an American lawyer at Clifford Chance, in New York City. He was part of Lynch’s defense team and fought a long legal fight to acquit Lynch. Two months ago, he posted his first LinkedIn post to celebrate the court's victory.

In the letter, Morvillo told his family, including Neda Morvillo, that "none of this could have been done without your love and help."

Morvillo was a principal of Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello PC before joining Clifford Chance, in November 2011. He provided advice on white-collar criminal defence and regulatory issues.

Morvillo studied law at Fordham University and worked between 1999-2005 as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, helping with the criminal investigation stemming from the September 11 attacks.

David Oscar Markus is a podcast host and criminal defense lawyer. He interviewed Morvillo the week before. He described him in a blog as a "superstar attorney".

Markus wrote: "Chris spent over a decade in his career pursuing justice for Mike Lynch." It's hard to find the words to describe what happened.

Neda Nassiri, Morvillo’s wife, owns a luxury jewelry line in her maiden namesake. According to her company's website she has been handcrafting and designing jewellery in New York since over 20 years.
