UK's HS2 train will run to northern England, LBC reports

The British government is set to reveal that the high speed HS2 train will run from central London to Crewe in northern England, partly reversing the previous administration's. decision to downsize the job, LBC radio reported on. Thursday.

According to the LBC report, state-owned HS2 Ltd will not. manage the extension to Crewe, about 40 miles south of. Manchester, and the multi-billion-pound task will be handed. to an economic sector consortium rather.

HS2 did not right away reply to a Reuters request for. comment.

The high speed project, originally announced in 2012,. was developed to connect London to northern England, including. capability to Britain's train network and assisting the country's. infrastructure overtake other European countries which have. comprehensive faster modern tracks.
