Ukraine's grid operator will limit electricity supply to businesses on Wednesday

Ukrenergo, Ukraine's national grid operator, announced Wednesday that it had imposed limits on the supply of electricity to businesses due to "significantly lower" imports and lower production.

The restrictions will only be in effect during the day. After the equipment has been fixed, restrictions will be lifted in the evening," Ukrenergo stated on Telegram.

Last August, after an intense Russian missile and drone strike on businesses and homes, massive restrictions were placed on the supply of electricity.

DTEK, Ukraine's largest power distributor and generator, said that restrictions would be applied to Kyiv and the Kyiv Region, Odesa and Dnipro, and the Donetsk region.

DTEK stated on Telegram that the reasons were a lack of electricity in the grid caused by previous Russian shelling and a decrease in temperature.

In recent months, Russian drones and missiles have increased their attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Officials claim that the country's power generation capacity has been reduced by about half and it now depends primarily on three nuclear power stations. (Reporting and editing by Andrew Heavens, Louise Heavens, and Pavel Polityuk)
