Russian air attacks damage power grid in Ukraine's Ternopil, local authorities states

Russia's overnight air attacks harmed the power grid in Ternopil, a significant city in western Ukraine, cutting off electricity and water, and interfering with heat products, the head of the regional defence headquarters said on Tuesday.

Emergency situation services were working to restore water supply by early morning, Serhiy Nadal, head of the Ternopil Area Defence Council headquarters, said on his Telegram messaging channel, but power interruptions will continue for hours.

Electric buses that service the city will be changed with routine buses and generators will aid with power scarcities in schools, health centers and federal government institutions, he said.

Nadal did not offer details on the degree of the damage in the city that had a population of almost of a quarter of a. million before Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

The complete scale of the attack was also not instantly clear.
