Bangladesh announces another tender for the purchase of 50,000 T wheat

European traders reported on Monday that Bangladesh's state grain buyer had issued an international bid to purchase 50,000 tons of milling Wheat.

They said that the deadline for submitting price offers was November 25.

The previous bid for 50,000 tonnes of wheat from Bangladesh closed on November 7, but price offers are still being considered, and there has been no reported purchase.

In recent weeks, Bangladesh has been active on the wheat and rice markets.

Floods in the

The country has destroyed approximately 1.1 million tonnes of rice.

In August and October, floods caused by monsoon rains, torrential runoff and heavy rainfall struck the country. At least 75 people died and millions were affected, especially in the northern and eastern regions, where the worst crop damage occurred.

The Bangladesh agriculture ministry has confirmed that this year's floods have resulted in substantial losses of rice production. The government has responded by importing grains.

CIF terms are required for the new wheat bid. The terms of the new wheat tender include costs of ship unloading for the seller.

The contract is signed 40 days later. The wheat is to be imported from anywhere in the world except Israel, and shipped to two ports: Chattogram and Mongla. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens, Michael Hogan)
