Asia rates hold constant in the middle of Northeast Asia heat, nearing South Asia monsoons

Asian spot melted gas (LNG) prices held consistent this week amid greater temperatures in Northeast Asia and the anticipation of the approaching monsoon season in South Asia.

The typical LNG cost for August shipment into north-east Asia << LNG-AS > was at $12.60 per million British thermal systems ( mmBtu), market sources approximated.

Higher temperatures forecasted for Northeast Asia next week are offset by cooler weather condition in South and Southeast Asia as the monsoon season approaches, stated Ana Subasic, a gas and LNG expert at information and analytics firm Kpler.

Asian LNG front-month prices are also expected to be constant next week with expectations of Australia's Wheatstone LNG supply going back to production.

On June 10, Chevron suspended production at its Wheatstone gas facility in Australia to fix the platform's fuel gas system. It said on Friday that reboot activities at the center are continuous.

Heat throughout Asia had spurred LNG demand, pushing rates up to a six-month top last week. After grappling with record-high summer season temperatures, India's monsoon is advancing after stalling for over a week, with rains set to cover main parts of the country in the coming days, stated weather officials.

In China, southern provinces released serious flood warnings due to heavy rains, but areas in the northwest and east knowledgeable record-high temperature levels.

While expectations for power sector gas burn in other places in northeast Asia are firm, with heat projection for the coming weeks, there stays some unpredictability on stock levels, with some recommending high South Korean stocks which might limit additional LNG need, said Samuel Good, head of LNG prices at product pricing agency Argus.

In Europe, S&P Global Product Insights evaluated its day-to-day northwest Europe LNG Marker (NWM) price standard for freights provided in August on an ex-ship (DES) basis at $10.815/ mmBtu. on June 20, a $0.085/ mmBtu discount to the August gas cost at. the Dutch TTF hub.

Argus assessed the August delivery cost at $10.750/ mmBtu,. while Spark Commodities evaluated the July delivery price at. $ 10.715/ mmBtu.

The marketplace has mainly brushed off more news of the. EU's planned ban on transshipment of Russian LNG, said Argus'. Good. The European Union agreed on a package of sanctions. versus Russia, consisting of banning re-exports of Russian LNG in. EU waters.

Market activity in the Atlantic basin was restricted by firms. holding back cargoes ahead of the Egypt's Natural Gas Holding. Company (EGAS) tender closing next week, suggesting scope for an. increase in activity in the closing days of June.

Egypt is seeking big gas volumes from global markets this. summer season with credits of up to six months, terms that. market sources stated would narrow the list of bidders and. increase premiums.

Good added that the timely inter-basin arbitrage for U.S. loadings has actually stayed open in current days, leaving Asian firms. normally more competitive for this supply.
