Maritime security company receives reports of surges near Yemen's coast

A merchant vessel reported 2 surges near a ship taking a trip 14 nautical miles southwest of Yemen's Al Dhubab, British maritime security company Ambrey stated on Monday.

The report followed declarations by the U.K. Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which said it had received info about 2 surges associated to an occurrence 25 nautical miles south of Yemen's port of Mokha. The ship and team were reported safe, and the ship proceeded to its next port of call, UKMTO included.

It was not instantly clear whether the 2 incidents were related.

Al Dhubab and Mokha lie along Yemen's western coast near the Bab al-Mandeb strait, making them strategically substantial along the Red Sea passage.
