DP World Trip suspends Englishman Penge for gambling on golf

Englishman Marco Penge has been suspended by the Europebased DP World Trip after a disciplinary panel found he put bets on numerous golf events, the circuit stated on Wednesday.

The DP World Trip stated Penge, 26, did not bank on himself or during tournament days when he was contending, leading the panel to identify that the stability of such occasions had actually not been compromised.

World number 414 Penge was given a three-month ban that took effect on Dec. 13, although one month has been suspended for a year pending more breaches of the tour's integrity program. Penge was also fined 2,000 pounds ($2,539).

The DP World Tour stated Penge's charges were mitigated due to his immediate admission of breach and co-operation throughout the examination.

Penge, who most recently dipped into the Australian Open in November where he completed in a share of 27th location, can go back to DP World Trip participation from Feb. 13.
