South Korea's NOFI buys estimated 204,000 T corn, traders say

European traders reported that the leading South Korean animal feed manufacturer Nonghyup Feed Inc., (NOFI), bought approximately 204,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn at an international auction on Tuesday.

The corn can be purchased from any origin, but is expected to come from South America.

All three consignments had an estimated price of $234.59 per ton, cost and freight included (c&f), plus $1.25 for port unloading.

Cargill, a trading house in South Korea, was thought to have sold two consignments. The corn arrived around the 20th and 30th of September.

Viterra, the trading house, has purchased another consignment for delivery in South Korea on or around October 10.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

The traders reported that Asian demand was stimulated after Chicago corn futures dropped more than 2% Monday, partly due to favorable U.S. conditions for growing and uncertainty regarding export demand.

The Korea Feed Association, a South Korean importer company, also bought around 65,000 tonnes of feed corn at an international auction on Tuesday. (Reporting and editing by Kirby Donovan, with Michael Hogan)
