Arkia brings home countless stranded Israelis from Athens, Larnaca

Israeli airline Arkia said on Sunday it had repatriated 17,000 Israeli people over the past four days who were stranded after European carriers stopped flights to Tel Aviv due the conflict in the Middle East.

Europe's air travel safety regulator EASA provided a bulletin at the end of September encouraging airline companies not to use Israeli airspace.

That left thousands Israelis stuck across the continent. Many made their method to Greece and Cyprus in the hope of getting back to Israel before the start of the Jewish New Year last Wednesday. Flag provider El Al Airlines stated all its arranged flights were full however it had included flights from both countries and improved capacity from Paris.

Smaller sized rival Arkia said it signed up with the nationwide effort and ran an air train from Athens and Larnaca by utilizing aircraft from other airline companies while Eastern Airlines took part with a Boeing 777 airplane.

After EASA's suggestion to foreign companies to avoid flying to Israel, Israeli travelers got numerous cancellations and discovered themselves worldwide without any method back, Arkia stated.
