Taiwan's MFIG purchases about 65,000 T of corn from Brazil, traders claim

European traders reported that the MFIG group of Taiwan bought 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn from Brazil at an international auction on Wednesday.

They said that the yellow corn was bought at a premium of approximately 161.20 U.S. dollars per bushel (cost and freight included) over the Chicago corn contract for December 2025.

It was thought that the seller is CJ International, a trading company.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

Eight companies each offered 65,000 tons of corn.

ADM is said to be the trading house that made both offers. The lowest offer was 176.20c over Chicago December, and traders reported it.

Trading house ETG was said to be the source of an offer for 65,000 tonnes of Argentine Corn at 173.43 cents per Chicago December. At first, no offers for South African corn were reported.

According to traders, the tender sought shipment between August 19 and september 7 if corn was sourced in the U.S. Gulf or Brazil, Argentina. If the corn is sourced from South Africa or the Pacific Northwest Coast of the U.S., then the shipment will be between September 3-22.

After a fall in Chicago corn futures early this week, the tender comes after a heavy Asian corn purchase on Tuesday by South Korean importers.

Traders said that if China buys U.S. grain again, the price of corn could increase in the next few weeks.

Concerns about importers from Asia also led to a surge in purchases.
